Authority guide · Whole-Home & Interior Remodels

A whole-home remodel is a general-contractor problem, not a specialist one. Every Advanced Remodeling whole-home project runs under a single fixed-price contract, one project manager, and one warranty — kitchen, baths, floors, paint, siding, or an addition, we coordinate every trade in-house.

One team, one timeline, one contract

The failure mode on whole-home remodels is homeowners hiring 5 separate trades and playing dispatcher. We run every trade under our WA general contractor registration (ADVANRL813RC), on one signed contract, with weekly written updates. If something goes wrong, there's one number to call.

Planning and permits

Multi-room remodels almost always trigger permits — mechanical for HVAC changes, plumbing for kitchen/bath, electrical for panel upgrades, and building for any structural work. We handle drawings, submittal, inspections, and final sign-off. Additions and ADUs also require planning review and sometimes engineered drawings; we coordinate that upfront.

Live in or move out?

For a kitchen + one bath, most homeowners live in. For a full-floor remodel or anything with structural work, moving out for 3–8 weeks saves your sanity and shaves days off the schedule. We can zone the house with plastic and negative-air machines when you stay — and honestly tell you when moving out is the right call.

Additions, basements, and ADUs

Adding square footage is the highest-ROI move in a PNW market where lots are constrained. We build room additions, second-story pops, finished basements with egress, garage conversions, and detached ADUs. Every scope carries the same fixed-price contract and workmanship warranty as our finish work.

Quick answers

Straight answers before you call

The questions we get most often on discovery calls — answered in plain English, with numbers, before you spend an hour on the phone.

How much does a whole-home remodel cost in Washington?

Whole-home cosmetic refreshes (paint, floors, trim, lighting, minor kitchen/bath updates) typically run $60,000–$150,000. Full interior renovations touching kitchens, baths, flooring, and finishes across every room usually land $180,000–$450,000. Additions and structural changes are quoted separately after a design consult.

How long does a full-home remodel take?

Cosmetic whole-home refreshes: 4–8 weeks. Full interior renovations: 12–20 weeks. Additions and ADUs: 5–8 months including design and permitting. Every project runs on a written schedule with weekly homeowner check-ins.

Should I move out during a whole-home remodel?

For gut-level renovations touching kitchens, primary bath, and HVAC — yes, usually 6–12 weeks. For phased or single-floor projects we can stage the work so you stay in the home. We plan the phasing at estimate time so there are no surprises.

Can you do additions and ADUs?

Yes. As a licensed WA general contractor we handle room additions, bump-outs, second-story additions, garage conversions, and detached/attached ADUs (DADU/AADU) from design and permitting through final inspection.

Full-Home Remodel FAQs

How long does a whole-home remodel actually take?

A cosmetic multi-room refresh runs 6–10 weeks. A kitchen + 2 baths + flooring is typically 12–20 weeks. Structural work or an addition pushes to 6–9 months including design and permitting. We commit exact dates in the contract with milestone payments tied to them.

Do you handle architectural drawings and permits?

Yes. For scopes without structural changes, we handle in-house drawings and permit submittal. For additions, ADUs, or load-bearing changes, we coordinate with a licensed architect or structural engineer and manage the full permit process end-to-end.

Can I phase the project?

Yes, and we recommend it for larger budgets. Common phasing: baths first (fastest ROI, least disruption), then kitchen, then flooring/paint, then exterior. Each phase is its own fixed-price contract, but the overall design is planned as one system so nothing is redone.

How much does full-home remodel cost?

Every full-home remodel project is priced with a written, line-item estimate — labor, materials, permits, and disposal broken out. Fixed price locked in a signed contract. Ranges depend on scope, materials, and finish level; consultations are free.

Do I need a design consultation first?

For anything beyond a straightforward install we start with a free onsite consultation. We walk your home, discuss scope and materials, and prepare a written estimate you can decide on with no obligation.

How do you handle change orders?

Any change to scope, materials, or finishes is documented in a written change order signed by both parties before that work proceeds. You always know the price before we start.

What areas do you cover for this?

From Marysville down through Snohomish County, across the Eastside to Bellevue, and over to Seattle — including Marysville, Everett, Mukilteo, Mill Creek, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline, Bothell, Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Mercer Island, and Seattle. See the Service Areas page for the full list.

Is full-home remodel covered by your warranty?

Yes. We back all workmanship for 12 months on projects we perform directly. Materials and appliances are covered by their manufacturer warranty.

"JJ, Dominick, Erik, Jayson, Marco and the entire crew at Advanced did an amazing job with our basement, bath, laundry room remodel after a basement flooding issue. Would hire them again and recommend them highly."

"We chose Dominic and his crew to help rebuild our kitchen after a water leak. Dominic is knowledgeable, highly communicative, and patient/willing to answer lots of questions. The bid he provided was clear and competitive and he made sure to have an independent auditor review it to support our insurance claim. His team did a great job rebuilding and refinishing our hardwood floors, repairing drywall, and reinstalling our cabinets/dishwasher. Overall communication with the workers was good and the one time that there were some challenges, Dominic jumped on the issue right away and met with the team to make sure something similar wouldn't happen in the future. They will be the first number I call next time I need a general contractor."

"I’m really glad I chose to work with Dominik and his team! I had unstable tiles on the back wall of my shower from a poor previous installation. I came in with a lot of concerns (and a budget), and Dominik genuinely listened and worked with me instead of pushing a full remodel. What stood out to me: - Dominik created a thoughtful 3-step quote that gave me options instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all solution, which no other contractor offered - Erik handled most of the work and was clear, responsive, and easy to communicate with - He was able to save and reuse many of my original tiles, which meant a lot to me since they’re no longer sold and I really didn’t want mismatched tiles - Erik even helped install my bathroom window screen, totally above and beyond! And something I didn’t expect at all... They had someone come in to clean not just the shower, but my entire bathroom. It was spotless. Overall, the whole process felt smooth and really well thought out. You can tell they care about both the quality of their work and their clients. Would definitely recommend Advanced Remodeling LLC :)"

"We couldn’t be happier with the work these guys did for us! They created a truly life-like playhouse for our girls, and the final design was even better than the inspiration photos we shared. The attention to detail was incredible, and you can tell a lot of care went into every part of the build. The crew was extremely nice, professional, and respectful of our space throughout the entire process. Highly recommend them!"

"We are so glad that we chose to work with the team at Advanced Remodeling for our recent remodel of two bathrooms and a laundry room. There are so many positives to highlight: - They listened to our ideas and hopes while bringing their own thoughts based on their experience. They were then able to translate that into outcomes that were even better than we could have hoped! - They were great problem-solvers and were fair and honest in their advice; we never felt taken advantage of and appreciated their advice. - They honored the budget we established and did amazing work within that. No corners were cut and the work is of the highest quality. - Our remodel was a little tricky, with us wanting to find a way to utilize the space under our stairs more effectively. They did the most incredible job bringing that to life. We now have a great space (with lighting!) to store things. - Their communication was great, with questions answered in a most timely fashion and a willingness to talk through plans and ideas. The couple of small glitches along the way were rectified immediately. Finally, they were just great, friendly guys to work with. Erik, our site manager, is hardworking, thoughtful, and willing to do what it takes to make the customer happy. Everyone we worked with was very talented and a good human to boot. We would absolutely work with them again!"
